Is gay porn the final frontier?

Cerne Abbas GiantGreat news that gay sex has been legalised in India, and with a population over 1 billion people, that’s a lot of gay sex that can now breath a sigh of relief!

Of course, this is an early step, albeit a hugely significant one, along the road to equal gay rights for the country. In the UK, along with lots of other Western countries, we’re further down that road and it’s now getting to the finer details – it feels like we’re winning the battle for the minds, just need the hearts to catch up.

It’s easy to forget that gay sex and homosexuality only became legal in 1967 in this country, which is still within many people’s lifetime, but it makes you realise how much progress has been made.

This point was hammered home to me by one of my friends who is seriously considering posing naked and hard for an amateur website. It’s strange because he’s quite shy and reserved in some ways, especially in approaching guys, but has always had this urge to be a centrefold – and I can vouch that he has the essential requirements. The crunch came when he stumbled across old pictures of his housemate baring all in the back of a freebie gay mag, making it seem more normal, and deciding that if he’s gonna do it he better hurry up while he’s still in his prime. And it has nothing to do with the money, he just wants to show off his bits.

It seems this is only the tip of the iceberg. These amateur gay porn sites have become increasingly popular and seem to have an endless line of guys, both gay and straight, lining up, ready to show us what they’ve got. It’s the amount of, apparently, straight guys ready to strip off and jerk off that is really surprising. I know straight guys have followed gay guys with their hair, fashion, to the gym and the tanning salon – could gay porn be the ultimate step? I’m sure lots of straight guys, after spending hours working on their muscles, love to compete in a naked arena, getting real validation from all the eyes looking them over.

And it’s not just anonymous guys-next-door whipping off all their clothes for a bit of cash – I’ve noticed a few minor faces off the telly appearing, cock in hand, on some of these sites. So, the stigma must be disappearing, even for straight guys, and a bit of gay porn on your CV is no barrier these days to a career in the media.

So, 42 years after gay sex became legal, could one of the final stages of social acceptance be gay porn? Or is this a step too far?
